Cet avis de décès a été rédigé en anglais; le texte original est présenté ci-dessous.
Bertha passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2026. She left this world on her own terms, surrounded by a lifetime of artwork and books of inspiration.
Devoted daughter of the late Shia Shenker and Sabina (Fleising). Loving sister and sister-in-law of Jack, Bro and Steve (Ornstein), Eddy (z”l) and Fran. She leaves behind her beloved husband and soulmate of forty years, Eddie (Krygier), her inspiring daughter Johanna and son in law Dor, and three adoring grandchildren. Bertha cherished the time she spent with her nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada, the United States, and Israel, each of whom influenced her life in ways they may never have realized. Her close-knit family and cultural roots were a defining part of Bertha’s life and a lasting influence on her artistic endeavours.
Over more than fifty years as an artist, Bertha’s dedication and diligence in the studio produced a prolific body of work. Her simple figurative style in art reflected the way she lived - naturally, intuitively, and thoughtfully. Her unhurried pace, like her creative process, often captured the emotions she felt at the time.
Bertha lived a rich and meaningful life, marked by practicality and resourcefulness. She brought strength and steadiness to her marriage and to her role as a mother, found lasting inspiration in the written word, loved reading novels, and rarely missed a friend or family members birthday - always arriving with a gift in hand.
Bertha’s wisdom and presence will be missed. Her memory will live on through her art.
Family and friends are welcome to visit their home (4955 Patricia Ave.)
from July 8–12, between 2 and 6 p.m.
