Michael Landry

In loving memory of

Michael Landry

December 20, 1965September 8, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Douglas Landry, lovingly known as Mike or Mikey, who passed away on September 8, 2026, at the age of 60.

Michael was born and raised in Toronto and was always incredibly proud of where he came from, especially his roots on Blake Street. Those early years helped shape the strong, determined, hardworking man he would become.

Michael became a father at a young age, and although his path through life was not always an easy or traditional one, determination was something he never lacked. He had an incredible work ethic and was never afraid of hard work. One of his first jobs was at the CNE, where he worked as a ride operator. He later became a roofer, a physically demanding job that eventually resulted in a serious back injury after a fall.

Rather than allowing that injury to define his future, Michael used it as an opportunity to change the direction of his life. He returned to school and attended George Brown College, where he studied Power Engineering and graduated with honours. It was an accomplishment that reflected just how intelligent, determined, and capable he truly was.

Michael went on to build a career as a power engineer and later worked for the City of Toronto Waterworks. He took pride in his work and in everything he had accomplished. His journey from working at the CNE and on rooftops to returning to school and establishing a professional career was a testament to his determination and work ethic.

Sports were also a big part of Michael’s life. He was an excellent athlete from a young age, participating in swimming and track during high school and playing baseball throughout much of his life. His love of baseball continued as he got older, and he spent time coaching, sharing his knowledge and love of the game with others.

Michael was also an exceptional dart player and was known as one of the best in Ontario. Whether it was baseball, darts, swimming, or track, his natural athletic ability and competitive spirit were undeniable.

Beyond his accomplishments, there were so many little things that made Michael simply Mike.

He loved nature and being outdoors. He had a distinctive voice that those who knew him could recognize anywhere, and a personality that left an impression. He had a sweet tooth and especially loved cereal and maple cookies. And while there were plenty of foods he enjoyed, pickles were definitely not one of them — especially dill pickle chips.

Michael also had an incredible ability to sleep just about anywhere, something his family will always remember and smile about.

Above all, Michael loved his family, and he had a particularly special place in his heart for his grandchildren.

Michael was the loving father of his four daughters, Crystal, Chantel, Michelle, and Madison.

He was the proud grandfather of Miah, Chung, Jasmine, Fia, Noah, Wyla, and Caden, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Michael will be lovingly remembered by his fiancée, Catherine.

He will also be deeply missed by his siblings, Diane (Eric), James, Derek (Jacqueline), and Wendy (Mike), as well as his many nieces and nephews, who will remember him with love and affection.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, Douglas Landry and Joan Wade.

Michael’s life was made up of many chapters. He was a young father, an athlete, a baseball player and coach, an exceptional dart player, a student who returned to school and graduated with honours, a power engineer, a hardworking man, a father, a grandfather, a brother, a friend, an uncle, and a fiancé.

His life was not without its challenges, but those challenges do not define the entirety of the man he was. He was determined. He was hardworking. He was intelligent. He was funny. He was unique. He loved deeply, and he was deeply loved.

For those who knew Michael, there will always be things that immediately bring him to mind — the sound of his unmistakable voice, a baseball field, a dartboard, a bowl of cereal, maple cookies, someone trying to hand him a pickle, or finding someone asleep in a place where no one else possibly could.

Those are the memories that become part of a person’s legacy.

Michael will be deeply missed by his daughters, grandchildren, fiancée, siblings, nieces and nephews, extended family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

Though his journey has come to an end, the stories, laughter, memories, and love he leaves behind will continue to live on through the people who knew and loved him.

Rest peacefully, Mike. You will always be remembered, always be loved, and never be forgotten.
