In loving memory of
Eileen (Aileen) McKie Tominey Bowkett
August 8, 1944 – October 26, 2026
Aileen passed away peacefully on October 26, 2026, at Lakeshore General Hospital, with her daughter Jennifer by her side.
Born on August 8, 1944 in Scotland, Aileen made Canada her home and spent most of her life in Pointe-Claire on the West Island of Montreal. Although she lived in Canada for so many years, her Scottish roots were always an important part of who she was.
Aileen was the mother of Jennifer (Stephen), Michael, and Robert (Elizabeth), and the proud grandmother of granddaughters Shannon and Fiona, whom she adored. One of the special joys of her later years was being reunited with her sister and getting to know her nephew and niece and their families in England. She also had a special place in her heart for the McDermott clan, who were her family in every sense of the word.
Aileen enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking, gardening and flowers, music and singing. She was longtime member of the choir at St. Edmund's Church in Beaconsfield. She was fortunate to have wonderfully loyal and dedicated friends throughout her life.
In keeping with Aileen's wishes, there will be no funeral service. She did want a Mass of intention at St. Edmund of Canterbury Church in Beaconsfield. This will take place on Sunday, February 7, 2027 at the 11:00am Mass.
For those who live nearby or may be visiting the area, there is a lovely bench overlooking Lake St. Louis at Antoine-Pilon Park in Pointe-Claire, a special place for Aileen, which is a beautiful place to sit and remember her.
For those who would like to honour Aileen, put the kettle on, make yourself a cup of tea and enjoy a piece of shortbread. Better still, share it with someone you love, along with a good conversation and a few happy memories.
